I love it! That double fabric is exactly right and the ribby brim fits nicely.
I had the chills the other evening, just after I finished the hat. I was watching kiddies, and didn't have anything else on hand. And suddenly I was warm. As an adult, I haven't really worn hats. They make me feel weird, and I don't think they look good on me. I had completely forgotten how quickly they help to warm you up.
And then I thought of the yarn I purchased just a couple weeks ago at the new LYS here in Edmonton, Fibre Nook.
And this hat, the Loch Ness Tam. Which just happens to be very close to the same colours as the yarn I purchased. And the same yarn. I need a cream, but I think I can come up with something from my stash that will work just fine.

I'm not sure I want to purchase an entire book for just hats, so before I go off the deep end, I am going to look through my pattern books.
I know there are some lovely Tams in them. Offhand, I know the older Jared Flood book, Made in Brooklyn from Classic Elite, has a lovely Tam in it

I may already have yarn for this lovely thing. The yarn in the pattern. Not that I obsess much when I obsess about stuff.
Okay, okay, okay, as my wee grandkiddies will say, I will probably buy that book for that ever so pretty green and teal and cream Tam. It's just in my head and it doesn't want to let go. Sooner rather than later. And there may or may not be further hat knitting.
Because you see, the other evening, when I was thinking wearing that hat, I got to thinking about how it was only in the 19th century, people stopped wearing hats, and how in colder climates, even indoors, that may be a stupid thing, and how maybe, I ought to start a trend and become a hat wearer at home. And how nice and toasty warm I was with a hat on my head when I slept. And how I will need more than just one hat.
And so obsession begins.
