I knit on Issac's cowl till I hit one little problem. This isn't a charted pattern. It is all written. Add that to the slip stitch mosaic nature of the beast and I hit a wall. I think I am going to pull out some spare yarn and play a bit. A trial run of the design done in the round is in the offing. I really don't want to screw up the pattern and I worry about the yarn being knit too many times. The yarn will be fine I am sure, but I am not sure how sturdy that little reflective filament is. I have the first ribbing done though and I do like how it is looking.
I've watched a few videos and I am going to tackle the test run this morning.
I did go to grab yarn for test and had a little thing happen on the way. This thing.
I sat looking at this one by one cube box full of sock ends and pieces and thought 'great whack a mole, it's full'. Where the first part of that thought came from, I have no idea, but the box is full. It would be hard to stuff another part ball of yarn in there. Time to knit monsters. The problem with that is, that it never seems to make the amount of leftovers go down.
The box with my bed socks yarn was on a footstool right in front of me and so were the needles. I moved the box and thought of how much I am enjoying wearing these thicker socks at night and realized that my feet were a bit cold. I had on a regular pair of socks and thought about looking for a warmer pair. I realized a while ago that I have been grabbing socks made of Kroy every chance I get. It isn't planned but Kroy is just slightly thicker than many sock yarns and they are just that teensy bit warmer. My living room is a bit chilly underfoot (I blame the bay window).
All these little things thought of together and I decided to knit a pair of monsters using two strands of yarn. One strand is a plain navy blue and the other strand is being knit in my most favourite striping number, seven. It's fascinating watching the way the colours and patterning in the yarns show off. One of the yarns is my favourite cotton Meilenweit, which had a very uninspiring colour way. It paired most magnificently with the navy turning its blotchiness into brilliant bits of blue and green and turning some of the blues into the prettiest periwinkle. The pairing made a rather dull yarn into something very striking.
I am going to keep knitting on these today in between learning to knit mosaic. Poor Sock Monkey Blankie. Once again, put off for another day.
